OCTOPODA: VET ALLIANCE’s LMS Platform

From the Fall of 2020 - Winter of 2022, I designed, implemented, and maintained Octopoda, Vet Alliance’s Learning Management System (LMS). Supported by Docebo, an industry-leading LMS provider, the platform went through a series of iterations based on member feedback, current design standards, and a constantly updating scope.

All digital assets for the site’s pages were created by myself and had to follow the Octopoda-specific design style.

LMS Created using Docebo. Digital Assets created using Adobe Photoshop CC.

VET ALLIANCE GUIDED E-LEARNING COURSE DESIGN

Designed for Vet Alliance’s 2022 guidED conference, this e-Learning module was used during the Integral Learning Experience. It was created in collaboration with subject matter expert, Tyler Grogan on the topic of Queue Theory.

Much of her content discusses Disney and their masterful use of Queue Theory, so I developed a style that mimicked the playful feelings evoked in their parks. I designed several interactive portions of the module such as the drag-and-drop question for “Queue Behaviours” and the slider timeline to cover “Appointment Syndrome”. These served to not only engage the learners but also to aid in their retention of the content.

Carling Animal Hospital COVID Infographic

During the COVID-19 outbreak, Carling Animal Hospital needed an infographic to post on social media and in the clinic to explain the new protocol. Due to the urgency, the image was created on a rushed deadline. The client was looking for something approachable yet informative. I utilized hand-drawn, imperfect icons to illustrate each point in a friendly but concise manner.

ICRP STRATEGIC Plan Mockup

This piece was used for primarily internal communications, however, it had to be approachable enough to be shared with general audiences. The International Commission on Radiological Protection is working on making more dynamic branding and I worked collaboratively with their scientific secretary team to create a clean but exciting design. It followed the current ICRP brand guidelines and colour scheme while adding additional textural elements that would translate well in both print and digital spaces.

ICRP Promotional folder

The International Commission on Radiological Protection recently worked with groups to provide free PDFs of their annals. They wanted a design to use on a clear plastic folder that would be given to those attending their 2019 Symposium.

The challenge with this design was taking into account the transparent material. Keeping this in mind, all the white space in the design is transparent allowing the papers inside the folders to show through the final folder.

Snapchat geofilter

This filter was created for the Canadian Medical Association's 2016 General Council Meetings. The CMA asked for a simple filter that followed the style guide for the conference as well, it had to adhere to the guidelines that Snapchat provided. Since the meetings were being held in Vancouver, the CMA wanted to capture some iconic imagery of the city including the skyline and the mountains.

The filter was created through an iterative process involving many departments such as the marketing and communications department, and the graphics department to ensure it was approved by the directors of the respective teams.
